This exciting journey of mine brings me to the entire Johor state. I called this journey, Homestay Hopping. A 14 days journey that started on 4th September 2012. The mission is to complete the visit to 16 homestay in total that are located all around Johor. My journey begins in Muar.. How we strategize our destination from one place to the other is depending on which area is the nearest from where we came from and the end destination must be near the highway so it'll be easier for us to head back to Kuala Lumpur. We divided the 16 homestay hopping journey to two trips. One that begins on 4th September 2012 - 10th September 2012 and the other trip 10th October 2012 - 18th October 2012.
Muar -> Batu Pahat -> Kota Tinggi-> Mersing -> Johor Bharu -> Kulaijaya -> Pontian

Our first trip we depend heavily on GPS which at some destination it has lead us elsewhere from where we're heading. Uncountable disappointment when using GPS. On our second trip, we had GPS and a proper map (that cost us RM15) to help us get to the places we needed to be. The map was indeed an excellent investment made by us. Overwhelming hospitality received from the homestay owners and homestay organizers. Not only they made us feel right at home but the gifts we received from them as soon as we're about to leave their place was indeed very generous. We even received coconuts as gifts to bring back home. 6 COCONUTS! And it was only at the first destination on our second trip. I can easily gain weight if i were to live with them because of the amount of food they served. We've tasted, fresh coconuts, fresh prawns, fresh dodol, fresh honey. Everything was FRESH!
Had to get out of my comfort zone because there was lot of things i've done through this entire journey that i didn't expect myself doing it. You can now place me in the middle of the jungle and i'll survive alone (2days the longest). hehe. One of the things i've done that had challenged me mentally is overcoming my fear of being in the middle of the sea on a BRIDGE. It was a tiny bridge. The one that can be crushed easily by a wave. It took me forever to cross the bridge to get the swamp side. All this is for us to get to the southern most tip of mainland asia which is located in Tanjung Piai national park. To add to my fear, the bridge that is connecting to the end of southern most tip of mainland asia are covered by sea water. At that moment what came across to my mind is that, we might be facing with the same problem with the route back to the entrance where we came from. We were like in the middle of the sea! Imagine if we were stuck and had only tree branches to hold on to survive. Luckily it was just my wild and panic imagination. The route back to where we came from were fine. Other than my fear, Tanjung Piai National Park is a must visit!
